Aveda

Top Three Favorite Skin Care Products

Aveda Embrightenment Ingredients

Since starting school at Cinta Aveda in July, I have learned so much about each line of skin care products they offer and how to use and manipulate on the skin for better outcomes and to increase the radiance of the skin. After using Aveda for a while at school and also at home, I’ve noticed great changes in my skin—it’s much less dull and oily than before. Before Aveda, I used different brands of skin care. I tried so many, but I never really stuck to one. But I’m glad I’ve chosen Cinta Aveda as a school. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have gotten to try all these great natural products.

My top three favorites that I love and recommend are:

  1. Herbal Clay Mask — When you have those ugly blackheads or whiteheads, mix this with a little of the liquid Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant. Microwave that baby up in a bowl for 30 seconds. Mix it and apply on the face. Wait ten minutes and rinse with warm water. Ta-da! Your face and nose looks clean without having to extract.

  2. Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser — OMG, I love this mask! It has made my life so

easy! If you get lazy exfoliating, or even to cleanse your face, this one’s for you. It’s basically a two in one. I recommend it for people who needs a little “oomph” of moisture in their dull-ish dry skin (like mine). For this cleanser, you just wet your face with warm water, take a bit of the cleanser on the tips of your fingers, and lather it on your face in a circular motion. Then rinse and pat dry. Follow with a spritz of the Botanical Kinetics Skin Firming Toner. Now it’s all nice and smooth.

  3. Intensive Hydrating Mask — When you need that extra hydration in your skin, this mask is magic. It has aloe vera, so it works great by itself. This mask doesn’t really need heating up, but I do recommend applying a somewhat thick layer. What I particularly like about this one is that you can apply it and sleep with it overnight, then rinse in the morning. When you wake up, your skin will be quenched like you never stayed up late partying.

I have more favorite ones I’d like to talk about, but these are the basics that I feel everyone needs in their home. So I hope you go out and try these babies out!

Real Men Get Facials

Men with facial masks on.

When I offered to give my guy friends’ free facial treatments at school, their responses were, “I’ve never gotten a facial treatment before, how does it feel?” or “Do I need to cleanse my skin before hand?” My answer to them were the same—“It makes you feel cleansed and relaxed, and no, the whole point is that I cleanse your face and give it some pamper.” Yet none of them has actually come in for a free facial treatment.

Guys, I know most of you don’t even have a regular skin care regimen at home to properly cleanse your face. So I recommend you go out there now and find one! You need a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and maybe an eye cream, too. Why? Just like us women, you’re a human being with skin that can get dry, dull, oily, dehydrated, or for those with combination skin, everything in between.

Then schedule your first-ever facial treatment. There is nothing to be shy or afraid of; it’s really relaxing. A facial treatment is not only deep cleansing for your skin, but we also help you find the right treatment for your skin by analyzing it: is it dry or dull? Does it suffer from inflammation, hyperpigmentation, dehyration, and so forth. After each facial, you’ll see and feel the results—you’ll be amazed, trust me!

If you’re having trouble finding the right skin care regimen, I recommend trying Aveda’s Botanical Kinetics Purifying Crème Cleanser, Botanical Kinetics Skin Firming Toning Mist, and Botanical Kinetics Hydrating Lotion.

The Importance of Heat Protectants

Aveda Brilliant Damage Control

Do you blow dry your hair all the time? Do you use a straightener/flat iron? A wand? A curling iron? If you do, do you also use a heat protectant? If not, you absolutely need to be!

Excessive heat can be so damaging to the hair if it isn’t prepped properly! Aveda offers some of the best style preps I’ve ever used. All of them work as heat protectants while still helping hold a style.

If you’re looking for a sleek and smooth blowout, use Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Style Prep. Are you looking for a bouncy, voluminous blowout? Use Pure Abundance Style Prep. Not sure what hot tools you might want to use after blow drying? Use Brilliant Damage Control.

Brilliant Damage Control can be used even if you aren’t going to blowout your hair. It detangles hair, and dries like there isn’t anything on the hair at all. Apply it after towel drying hair. Spray liberally, and then let it air dry. This product is seriously the greatest!

Aveda’s Wellness Approach

Aveda treats the entire body. A little history is that the word Aveda is derived from the Sanskrit word Ayurveda or “life knowledge.” It’s the ancient healing tradition of India. We want each guest to be a reflection of their own life experience’s through mental, emotional, physical, and environmental. The result will reflect on their health and the appearance of their skin.

Aveda’s techniques and products are used to identify and treat any imbalances in the elemental nature of each individual.

  • Physical level: Research has shown that massage can reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body. The power of touch is a big element in the Aveda’s treatments. We want to make sure our pressure is at your comfort level and that you feel comfortable.
  • Mental level: During times of stress, our skin is the last tissue to receive nutrients, leaving it dry and dehydrated. Aveda-designed treatments will help people recover from stress, move forward, balance, and improve the appearance of their skin. Aveda uses opening and closing rituals, aroma sensory, and mindfulness to move to a more balanced state.
  • Emotional level: Aveda’s treatments begin with the sensory journey. The goal is to find aromatic essences that can trigger the release of hormones that promote a feeling of relaxation and well-being. The sense of smell is closely associated with memory.
  • Energetic level: Aveda spa experiences and approaches are built upon good intentions. On the energetic level, Aveda works to create balance for each guest by focusing on the present moment.

“Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world.”

I love how Aveda gives back to this world. If we take something away from it, we want to give back to it. That’s why I chose Aveda and why I’m staying with it!

Light Up the Holiday Season: Shampure Candle

Aveda Shampure CandleI was exposed to the Shampure aroma during my first visit to Cinta Aveda Institute. The lit candles are placed throughout the guest areas and allow this aroma to simmer in the air. However, I learned that I had an affinity for the aroma when it attacked me in the restroom. What a lovely scent! I had to find out what this scent is. It turned out that the Shampure scent has a combination of numerous flowers and plant essences, lavender and ylang-ylang to name a couple.

I love lighting candles, especially during the holiday season, and the Shampure scent gives off a calm and pleasant aroma – perfect for the holiday chaos. In addition to the wonderful aroma, the candle can last for 50 hours or more. I like that the candle is a compact size yet it can withstand the long hours of being lit during the holidays.

What really topped the cake for me, however, was when one of my educators shared with me that the candle can also be used as a moisturizer! Say what?! How? The candle is made with soy wax so one can pick up some wax while the candle is lit and use it as a hand moisturizer. Surprisingly, it does not have a greasy feeling at all! Also, because the wax is made from soy, it is safer to inhale compared to many other alternative candles. I wouldn’t recommend finger-dipping into every hot, soy wax candle to use as a moisturizer, but the Shampure candles are definitely a good substitute when no moisturizer is readily available.

Your Hair in the Winter

Winter HairWhile you’re enjoying your holiday season, your hair could be suffering! Harsh winter winds, snow, and rain can cause seriously dry and brittle hair. This can take away your hair’s luster, shine, and softness. I know that my hair sees a dramatic change once the winter season kicks in!

One of my favorite products to combat this is Aveda’s Dry Remedy Moisturizing Masque. It can really be a hair lifesaver this season for all hair types. And, yes, it is safe for color-treated hair too.

This masque locks in intense shine, moisture, and softness with Aveda’s patented Deep-Moisture Complex, featuring natural ingredients like buriti oil. 93% of women agreed that their hair felt immediately softer and more moisturized after using this product just once, and I agree.

This is one of my favorite products for dry hair, especially during the winter season. This product only needs to be used once a week. Just smooth the product evenly through your damp hair and leave it in for two to five minutes, then rinse it out thoroughly. For best results, you should use the Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo before applying, and then follow the masque with Dry Remedy Daily Moisturizing Oil.

The new aroma made with natural ingredients like lavender, ginger lily, and bergamot will leave your hair smelling as great as it feels!

Nice hands, Grandma!

Aveda Hand Relief Product

Just kidding, that headline was kind of rude.

On a serious note, when we think of anti-aging regimens, we think of serums, eye creams, night creams, and so on. When used correctly, a great skincare routine can really turn the clock back on your face and neck, and help prevent premature aging.

Radiant skin? Check.

Healthy, bouncy, hair with not a gray in sight? Check.

Soft, spot-free hands? Whoops.

Oh hands. If one day I decide to lie about my age, you will be my dead giveaway. Hands show the signs of aging faster than other parts of your body. They physically go through much more. Whether they handle chemicals, are used for manual labor, or are chaffed from winter winds, our hands need protection too.

Now is the best time to add an extra step in your PM routine.

Aveda launched the Hand Relief™ Night Renewal Serum as a new way to improve the texture and evenness of your hands while you catch up on some sleep. Skin loses hydration throughout the night, which is why it’s the best time to pull out the big guns with heavier serums and creams. Before you know it, your alarm goes off, and your hands look like you’ve never worked a day in your life.

The benefits include:

  • Visibly reduce dark spots
  • Moisturizes and plumps to smooth fine lines
  • Andiroba oil protects skin’s natural moisture barrier
  • Refreshing aroma with certified organic orange, lavandin, and eucalyptus

Plus, unlike thick hand creams, this serum absorbs into skin instantly without leaving a greasy finish behind.

It doesn’t hurt that the usage is so easy. You massage the serum onto your clean hands thoroughly and…hit the pillow. You worked hard and so have those hands.

Show them a little love.

Aveda’s Holiday Gift Sets

The holiday season is just around the corner. Why not use an Aveda Holiday Gift to bring some bliss, peace, and tranquility to the people you love?

My favorite Aveda Holiday Gift is the “Gift of Peace and Light.” It’s a soy wax candle that features the renewing scent of Aveda’s signature Shampure shampoo and conditioner. It also features 50+ hours of burning time!

Still not convinced that you should get your stocking stuffers from Aveda this holiday season? Then think about this:

The green paper used to wrap Aveda’s gift sets are hand crafted by—and employ—5,500 people in Nepal. Mothers on this income are able to send their children to school. This income provides clean water, and it helps to provide food for their families. Since Aveda has teamed up with this small community in Nepal, 2,400 families now have sufficient income to repair their homes, send their children to school, buy and prepare food properly, and save for the future.

If that doesn’t make you want to buy a $40 candle, nothing will.Aveda Gift Packages on a Mountain

Learning to Love Makeup

Before I started my education at Cinta Aveda Institute, my interest in makeup didn’t go much further than wanting to know how to make my own face look presentable. I knew the basics—like how to apply foundation, blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick—but anything more than that made my brain scramble.

It wasn’t until we started learning about makeup at school that I really became interested. Some great things my educators demonstrated for us were contouring and bridal makeup, two things I knew nothing about.

This came to good use when I had my first bridal makeup application last weekend. I was caught off guard when the guest told me that she wanted to do a trial run for bridal makeup, but I thought back to what we had learned and put it to good use.

I started off with a clean face, then applied a light layer of Aveda Tinted Moisture. This was great for my guest since she wanted a beautiful but natural look. I then went in with different shades of pink and purple, with a touch of gold for her eyeshadow. I was a little unsure at first, but as I continued to blend all the shades, it looked really beautiful. We finished off the look with a neutral lip with a touch of pink.

I was nervous to show her the final look, as this was my first bridal makeup, but was relieved when she looked in the mirror and told me how happy she was. The smile on her face was infectious. I left school that day feeling really proud of myself, and with a bit more confidence in my ability to do makeup.

Aveda’s Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme

Aveda's Hand Relief Moisturizing CremeOne of Aveda’s best sellers—and rightfully so—is “Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme.” This is one of my all-time favorite hand creams.

Being a hairstylist takes a toll on your hands. We are constantly washing them and thus stripping our skin of its natural oils and moisture. The best thing about Aveda’s Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme is that I only have to use it two times a day: once in the morning and once before bed. I find that if I apply it once in the morning, it locks in moisture so well that I don’t feel the need to use it again until the end of the day. It’s said to last through three hand washes, which is great for anyone who works with their hands!

One of the main ingredients in Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme is licorice or “Glycyrrhiza glabra,” which is also known as “sweet wood.” It acts as an anti-irritant. This product really is great for all skin types, even for those of you with sensitive skin! The only thing you should be aware of is that it does have a thick consistency. But two to three minutes after applying it, you can already feel that it has fully absorbed into the skin, leaving your hands feeling smooth and silky soft.

So if you’re looking for a new hand cream this season, you really should try out the Aveda’s Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme. It works wonders!

The Invati System

The Invati SystemThe Invati System is a three-step system, created by Aveda, for people with thinning hair. “Invati” means invigorate in Sanskrit. This product was made and derived from India and contains a unique blend of herbs—97% all-natural ingredients—designed for thicker, longer lasting hair. The three steps are a shampoo, a conditioner, and a revitalizing spray.

The shampoo cleanses and exfoliates the scalp. It helps remove dry skin and products from the scalp, helping keep it healthy and moisturized instead of tight and dry. The shampoo consistency is creamy and runny compared to most shampoos, leading some to think that the shampoo does not cleanse well enough. But really, it’s actually the opposite. This shampoo helps exfoliate the scalp, which most shampoos don’t. It’s so important to exfoliate our skin and, to continue having healthy hair, it’s just as important to exfoliate our scalp. The Invati shampoo is very cleansing and healthy for the scalp even for those who aren’t worried about thinning hair.

The conditioner was created to thicken and strengthen the hair. This conditioner helps prevent more breakage and gives the hair more elasticity. The grape seed that is in the conditioner wraps around the hair cuticle and gives it its moisture and thickness. The conditioner also has nut oil which gives the hair its shine. The conditioner’s texture, similar to the shampoo’s, is runnier than most conditioners. But it does its magic when used correctly.

The revitalizing spray is the third step to this system. This product, sprayed and massaged into the scalp, helps rehabilitate the hair and scalp. The directions say that after shampooing and conditioning, the product should be sprayed six times on each side of the scalp while the hair is still wet. The revitalizing spray contains vitamin E oil that helps give the hair its strength. But the product is not oily at all. It is recommended to use the spray twice a day while giving the scalp a nice massage, which helps the scalp with circulation. The spray is an extremely important part of the Invati System, and it is important to follow the directions.

I used the whole Invati System for over six months. After just a couple of weeks, I experienced a significant difference in the amount of hair that I had been losing. Before I started using this product, my hair would fall out in significant quantities after a shower. But afterwards, I would come out of the shower and the hair that I would lose was countable: literally less than twenty hairs. I did a test and stopped using the Invati System and went back to use Aveda’s Scalp Benefits shampoo. But I noticed a dramatic difference and switched back to the Invati System. With the Invati System, my own hair has been thicker, too. There are also many more fine baby hairs than usual.

Because I personally used and believed in this product, I recommended it to a client that was experiencing thinning hair due to thyroid problems. I wasn’t sure that the Invati System would help because her thinning hair was caused as a side effect of a medication she was taking. But after a month, my client came back and told me that she had been losing less hair than usual and was extremely impressed and happy with the product. It’s a great feeling to be able to help someone with hair loss, especially because I know personally how bad it feels when too much hair is falling out.

I think the Invati System is amazing, but it’s important to be religious with the product. The Invati System smells great and leaves the hair healthy and clean. However, the product is on the pricey side. Everyone wants healthy skin, and everyone wants their hair to be as healthy and beautiful as it can possibly be. If you’re someone that cares about your hair the way that you care about your skin, then this product is worth the purchase. Because the Invati System is also helpful for preserving a healthy scalp, I recommend this product 100% even for people who don’t have thinning hair.

Intensive Hydrating Masque

With the winter months quickly approaching, it’s time to consider switching up the products in your daily skincare routine. Aveda’s intensive hydrating masque is the perfect addition to your winter-season regime. Naturally, the shift in weather tends to cause dryer skin conditions; Aveda’s intensive hydrating masque is gentle enough to use daily, yet potent enough to correct dehydrated skin.

This masque—containing lavender, rose, and aloe extracts—is perfect for even the most sensitive skin types. Unlike other masques, this intensive hydrating masque is customizable to target each individual user with the addition of Aveda’s singular notes, pure essences, or simply by using alone.

Delivering deep hydration, this masque will be your favorite new product for the harsh winter months.

To use:

  • Apply a generous layer to a freshly cleansed face and throat.
  • Leave masque on anywhere from 5-10 minutes, to overnight for the deepest restoration.

Aveda’s Product Line for Men

As a women, it was harder for me to recommend products for my male clients because I wasn’t using them personally. I didn’t know about the products’ hold, feel, or shine. But I did read all the products labels, and got to learn what they were for and how they would hold. Not being too familiar with the products, I would base my recommendations off the label.

But, over time, I got more comfortable with the products by actually using them. I tried the products on wet and dry hair, and on hair that starts wet and then is blow dried. By trying the product, you’re able to feel if there’s too much product in the hair or not enough. And don’t be afraid to experiment with a combination of products. Trying new products on your client is important to help achieve the different styles that the products can create. Showing your client new products each time they see you not only helps you sell retail, but it builds trust between you.

Most businessmen like to have hold with no shine—“the natural look.” I always recommend Grooming Cream. Grooming Cream can not only go on wet or dry, but it holds really well. Aveda Pomade is great for pompadours: great hold with a very nice shine to it. For men with normal hair types I recommend using Aveda’s Men’s Shampoo and Conditioner because it was made especially for men’s thick scalps.

Aveda Beautifying Composition Oil

Aveda Beautifying Composition OilI have been in love with the Aveda Beautifying Composition Oil since I first discovered it in Intro Phase. Whenever we used it during practicals, I was always eager to use it!

I felt all icky from wearing makeup all day and, as we began to perform practical facials on each other, I decided to give this product a proper test. Although I’m usually hesitant to try new skin products, I volunteered to go first. My partner used the Aveda Beautifying Composition Oil throughout my treatment, and confirmed what I already knew — I love this product. If I experience an amazing effect on me first hand, it makes a big impression on me.

The reason I love this oil so much is because I honestly do notice a real difference in my skin on a day-to-day basis. It removes my makeup — even waterproof and hard-to-remove eye makeup. It smells of organic lavender, rosemary and bergamot; the smell is so nice that you instantly become a little more relaxed.

The last new oil I tried from Aveda was Energizing, which I knew instantly wasn’t for me as soon as I rubbed it into my skin. The scent of the Beautifying Composition Oil, on the other hand, was love at first sniff! In addition it really helps moisturize skin and make it softer and smoother. Great for use as massage oil, dry skin, body, and a scalp remedy too!

Why do I love ‘Brilliant Universal Styling Creme’?

Aveda Brilliant Universal Styling CremeWhat a great question! Sometimes a heavy styling cream is intimidating when you’re unsure of how exactly to use it. But after some experimenting with Aveda’s Brilliant Universal Styling Creme (goodness, what a title!) I’ve come to absolutely love it. It has become a must have for all of my blow outs!

Most of my clients want that soft, lived in, beachy wave look when they leave after a fresh hair cut. And they want it to last ALL day. Who can blame them?

Brilliant Universal Styling Creme adds just enough weight to smooth everything down and protect the hair from excess heat and humidity, while providing the perfect amount of hold for an all day style. I only ever use a dime-size amount, after applying some of Aveda’s Brilliant Damage Control Style Prep, and away I go! All you need is a blow dryer and your favorite round brush!

Be cautious when using this product on extremely fine hair as it is can get heavy. When someone with fine hair comes in and wants a beachy blow out, I’m able to make do with even less than a dime-sized amount of Universal Styling Creme. This stuff goes far, guys! You really don’t need a lot.

Give it a try, or have your stylist use it next time your’re in an Aveda Salon! You’ll love it.

Product Review: Aveda Dry Remedy Oil

Aveda’s new Dry Remedy Oil quickly became a must-have product in my professional hairstyling kit. I find myself using it on every guest during their service as it’s one of those incredible products that can benefit everybody’s hair type.

Dry Remedy Oil, 99.9% naturally derived, offers weightless shine and maximum condition to the hair without leaving a heavy, greasy finish like most other oils on the market. Other oils often contain silicones which makes a serum-like product. Those form a heavier type of styling aid, and can build up in the hair, weighing it down and leaving a greasy finish.

But because of the way Dry Remedy Oil is formulated, it offers great versatility. With any texture hair—even fine—I will add a few drops prior to styling, and then finish with a few drops for maximum softness and shine. This product is one of my secret weapons. Show a client how they can use it in their dry hair and they’re immediately hooked.

The benefits are real. It instantly adds up to 41% more moisture to the hair with its buriti oil. It also deeply penetrates the cuticle, and seals down any frizz or fly-aways. To demonstrate the full advantage of the oil, I like to apply the oil only to one side of their hair and then allow them to compare both sides. Sometimes guests have a hard time wrapping their head around why a stylist is telling them to add a new product to their routine. But offering a lesson on how to use it, and showing them the physical changes in their hair, ends up changing their mind.

Aveda Dry Remedy Oil

Argan — an Aveda Ingredient

October 29, 2014
By

ArganOn the edge of the Sahara desert in Morocco is the indigenous argan forest. Local Berber women, determined to save it from desertification, found help in the form of Professor Zoubida Charrouf of the Faculté des sciences at the Université Mohammed V of Rabat. She was able to help them form the Targanine Network—a cooperative in their local village. In partnership with Aveda, the women of the Targanine Network are able to process the nuts from the argan trees more efficiently to sell to international markets.

For hundreds of years the locals ate the fruit and nut from the argan tree and it was a major part of their lives. Over hundreds of years, the Berber women have used the argan oil for medicinal purposes, cooking, and beauty, while the shells were used for heating. Aveda sources 100% of its argan oil, which is certified organic, from the Targanine Network and have provided funding to purchase processing equipment that helps the women separate the seeds, thus increasing their productivity.

The argan tree lives to be between 150-200 years old and does not start producing the fruit until it is 30-50 years old. The beauty benefits from the oil produced from the seed of the fruit have become well known around the world. For hair, argan oil adds moisture and tames frizzy ends. If you have a dry scalp, you can dab some argan oil along the scalp before washing your hair. For the face, people apply argan oil directly after cleansing and treatments. At Aveda, argan is used in the Green Science line. It has been proven in case studies to show more smoothness to the face creating a clear and radiant glow to the skin.

Aveda Botanical Treatment

Most of us love to color our hair. Now, in 2014, silver ash color hair is very “in”, or color melting aka Ómbre. Have you ever noticed after your color service, your hair feels like hay? Yes, I said hay–with a stringy straw like texture. This happens because we’re opening the cuticle to lift cortex. With process, you walk out of your salon with beautifully colored hair, but now the pH level in the hair is off. What I like to do, both for myself and my guests, is use the Aveda Botanical Treatment.

Aveda Botanical Products

The Aveda Botanical Treatment comes in 3 different formulas: Damage Remedy, Scalp Remedy, and Dry Remedy. Plus, there are three concentrate oil formulas: Soothing, Conditioning, and Purifying. My favorite Aveda Botanical Treatments to use are the Dry Remedy and the Damage Remedy, mixed with the Soothing concentrate oil and Conditioning concentrate oil. This mixture really helped me after overly coloring my hair four different colors within a year. It’s safe to say that I had a lot of damage going on.

When I was in Beta phase is when I started doing more research on our Aveda Botanical Treatment. My educator at the time cut my hair into a very short bob. About three months later, another student and
I were talking and she noticed that my scalp was super itchy (also I was probably scratching or patting my head a lot that day due to the irritation I was going through). She asked me if I’ve ever tried our Aveda Botanical Treatment since I’ve been eyeing it lately. I said no but I should.

We mixed Dry Remedy, Damage Remedy, Scalp Remedy, plus two concentrate oil, the Soothing concentrate oil and the Conditioning concentrate oil. I have to say, it’s been almost a year and about five treatments. I no longer have to use Scalp Remedy as much as I use the other because my scalp feels so much better and my hair is getting past my shoulders now. I love this Aveda Botanical Treatment. It’s hands down the best, and I’ve tried lots of different deep conditioning products. So go out there to an Aveda school or an Aveda salon and try a Botanical Treatment.

New Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight

Product - Aveda Smooth InfusionHave you ever struggled keeping your hair naturally straight? Living in San Francisco and having curly hair, the fog always finds a way to bring back my curls. But with Aveda’s new Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight, I have found a balance. The other day I had a guest with curly hair. After her daily routine of letting her hair air, it always seemed to be frizzy.

I know what you’re thinking: “I thought that it was only for blowing straight and to help when flat ironing the hair.” But no, I’ve been trying new things. On the day that my guest wanted beach waves, I was very happy to hear it. I’d been telling her all day about the new Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight product. So I brought over the Dry Remedy oil, the Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight, Volumizing Tonic (for memory hold), and Air Control. They’re all light weight products, which I think is the best after a fresh hair cut.

I start with a little Dry Remedy oil and a little Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight (Naturally Straight also has heat protection in its formula), then I rough dry the hair to about 70% dry. Next, I take about a dime size of Dry Remedy oil and Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight, work into the hair starting from ends to root, then add the Volumizing Tonic spraying from end to root. I then choose the proper size round brush and section the hair into about 1/4 inch sections, split in two. With the round brush, I start with the brush under the hair and the blow dryer on top but not touching the hair or brush. I start directing the up and the down. Next I switch the round and the blow dry.

This next step is very important. I take the blow dryer and the brush and choose which way I want the body to flow. So I over direct the hair, flipping the hair the same way. Repeat throughout the whole head. Finishing touch with Air Control and a little lip stick or gloss to help polish off the new look.
