Eyebrows

Everyone has eyebrows, and let’s face it, everyone looks at your eyebrows. So why not get them done and make them look pretty?

There have always been different eyebrow trends that involve different thinness and even color, but sometimes a trend cannot be reversed if you damage a hair follicle. Your eyebrows are in a sensitive area right above your eye, so it might be painful to remove some of the hair. But it sure can be worth it!

There are so many different ways to remove the hair. Waxing involves laying actual wax onto your skin and the hair that wants to be removed. Threading is a somewhat new technique that was brought to the United States from India. In threading, a thin thread is doubled, and then twisted. It is then rolled over areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove short lines of hair. Threading can also be used for someone who has sensitive skin because no hot products are being placed onto the skin. And there is always the tweezing method that most every woman uses. But when you tweeze you have the chance to pull the wrong hair and then you would be left with an uneven brow.

There are so many options to choose from that you just really have to find the one that you prefer.

Mac Cosmetics

Mac Cosmetics was founded in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo in 1984. They opened their first U.S. Mac store in 1991, in New York.

Mac Cosmetics started out as a line just for professional makeup artists: it was not sold to the public. Mac Cosmetics is known for its use as stage makeup, so it is a little on the heavier side when it comes to coverage. But, as time progressed, they’ve also come out with lighter foundations.

They have many different products now—basically, anything you need in makeup from foundations to powders, blush and bronzers, lip sticks and pencils. Mac doesn’t just carry makeup. They also have brushes and eyelashes, creams and primers. You can find anything you can think of at a Mac cosmetics store.

Mac Cosmetics are usually found in every Macy’s or Nordstrom’s department stores, but because of the small space, it’s only a fraction of Mac’s whole product line. Their pro line can be found in Mac’s pro stores. The pro line, or studio line, includes air brush makeup and exotic colors, together with different types of products. If you’re a licensed professional, Mac gives you an extra discount on your purchases.

Personally, I love Mac makeup due to their coverage and the different options that they always have. They never seem to fail with the next hot trend and colors.

Makeup

When putting on facial make up, you have to decide what look you’re going for. Just a natural look? Or an exotic look?

First, you have to figure out what kind of coverage you need or like. Do you want a soft look or full coverage? If it was up to me, I’d go light during the day and bam it out for the evening. The cool thing about makeup is that, if you begin light, you can start off with one look, and then dramatize it for the evening.

To me, someone’s every day face should consist of some powder, blush, mascara and, of course, a lipstick. That way your skin is not clogged by a bunch of product throughout the day. In the evening, looks can be a little more dramatized depending on the outfit or where you’re going. My favorite part of an evening look is that there really is no limit. Get that full coverage foundation with a bronze and a blush. You also have so many options for your eyes. Either black Smokey eyes or even just different shades of brown with some black liner.

But an evening look is never complete without some eyelashes! And, of course, your lipsticks. Depending on the color of your eye shadow, you can pick out whatever lipstick you want. If you do a dramatic eye, stick to a simple lip. If you do a simple eye, go for the dramatic lip!

There are endless options when it comes to makeup. Just try whatever works best for you!

Eyelash Extensions

Some people are blessed with them and some people have to buy them: eyelashes! Let’s face it. Anything that’s on your face is being looked at. And some people just have naturally amazing lashes and some people don’t.

There are so many different types of hair out there that it really just depends on how lucky you get. Just in case you, like me, are cursed with short thin lashes, there is always Plan B. There are many different ways to add volume and length to your lashes. They are called eyelash extensions.

You can try strip lashes which glue over your actual lashes. They already come in a strip, so it is an easy and clean process once you get the hang of it.

They also have individual lashes that come in sections. These are added to any areas on your lashes that you want to fix—even to make a full lash. These can be a little trickier to apply than the strip version, but they can also last a little longer.

And, last but not least, there are actual eyelash extensions that are put on one by one on top of each lash of yours. Depending on the quality of the product, these can last two to three weeks. These are more expensive, and because they are applied one by one, you end up sitting there for two hours.

Fall 2014

What is in right now? What colors, lipstick, or hair?

Everyone knows that once fall comes, it’s time to put away all the bright summer clothes and bright lipsticks. But you have to follow the fall trends.

It’s crazy: one day in class we had an assignment to ask a makeup artist what the fall trends were going to be this year and I didn’t expect the answer I got. She said, “Usually, for fall, everyone brings out the dark lip and the dark shadow, but that was a trend during summer so I don’t know if it’s going to continue into fall or whether the summer colors are going to be the new fall trends.”

That got me thinking. Personally, I love the dark maroon lip or maybe even a black lip which I have seen a lot lately. But, in my research, I see the normal dark fall looks, but I am also seeing the bright colors, like metallic blue shadow, and nude lips.

Everyone also always says that your hair has to go a little darker for fall. But I see many people with pastel colors in their hair and it is beautiful. Researching everything made me realize that, no matter what trend is in, you never know when it is going to change on you. So follow up with your hairdresser or go into a makeup store and ask. They are always going to give you the information you need.

Bikini Wax

Everybody might have different opinions about bikini waxing but I feel like you might need the right education about it before you make up your decision. Personally I think every girl should try it at least once in their lives.

Bikini waxing in the Middle East was considered a method of proper hygiene. This is pretty self-explanatory; some older woman might not see it as something they would consider due to the fact that it is such a personal area on the woman’s body. But nowadays, girls shave. Honestly, that’s the same thing. When you shave, you are removing hair, but some girls don’t seem to realize that shaving doesn’t change anything about the hair growth. For example, if you were to wax in the bikini area, the hair would grow back thinner and slower because you would be removing the hair from the actual root.

There are also different types of bikini waxes depending on how much hair you would like to take off. There is an American bikini wax, which takes off everything outside the bikini and also includes a trim. There is a French bikini wax, which takes off everything but a “landing strip”. And there is the Brazilian bikini wax, which takes off every hair in the pubic area and also includes a butt wax.

For someone that has never done this but has thought about it, I would recommend they try it at least once. They won’t regret it.
