Opportunity to Meet Surgeons, Business Owners & Experienced Estheticians

I would like to share how great it was that Cinta Aveda allowed other business owners and professionals to come to the school on more than a couple of occasions.

I recall when I was in my first 3 months of theory to become an esthetician we were asked to be models for the advanced esthetics class. It was during school hours of course with champagne and hors d’oeures. Each of us models sat comfortably while business owners walked freely amongst the students who presented us as their work of art, as well as exchanging resumes for business cards and contacts. I thought it was a great idea for breaking the ice as for some of us shy individuals who may have a fear of going out into the beauty world.

We have also had the opportunity to speak with facial surgeons and estheticians who have been in the business for over 20 years and have either worked in a medical setting or started a business of their own. It allowed us to ask any and all questions and inquires we could ever wonder about that may be uncomfortable to ask during an interview let’s say.

We have had demos from experts and speakers who have even brought their products from the company they worked with. As an esthetician it is great to have an array of products and avenues as to starting your own business and where to get started!

Different Styles of Learning

We took a test today that targeted our different styles of learning. There were 4 types and it was to allow the instructors to better communicate and teach us in a way that we each could understand. Whether you are a visual, kinetic, auditory or logical learner you would be accommodated at Cinta Aveda.

It is very important to be taught effectively, otherwise what is the point? I found it very difficult in school to concentrate let alone have the desire to continue paying attention hour after hour. The comical thing is, I scored almost equal in all 4 styles. That translates to me that I can become fairly bored fairly fast, so for Cinta Aveda to keep me interested the entire time I was there, high-five to them!

Throughout the day and the entire program, some days would start off with theory and some with appointments. As for the theory portion, it was a mixture of hands on, group work, artwork, reading (can not escape that), projects, presentations (for extra credit, no pressure) and barely any homework. I have a 5 year old and a part time job and was able to handle any projects Cinta Aveda delegated my way.

Discovering Aveda

It was all an accident, how I found Aveda.  I originally was looking for a specific product with another company to help my severely damaged hair. I was shopping in Santana Row and had walked into 3 salons and Aveda was the last.  I did not know anything about Aveda and was about to walk out, because they did not sell the product I wanted.  A sales associate approached me and asked what it was I wanted to achieve and I am grateful she did!

I explained to her how I bleached/lightened my hair 4 times in 1 week, going from black to platinum blonde.  My hair was fried, frizzy and definitely dry.  She introduced the Smooth Infusion line to me and I purchased the serum, shampoo, conditioner and prep product.  Before I purchased each item I went into the bathroom and quickly read the reviews online to ensure it was going to work. It is a must to research any product I purchase before I add it to my daily beauty regime. There were over a 1,000 ratings for the products rating it close to perfect.

I was more than satisfied with the results. My hair was amazingly soft and shiny. It was then I realized how great Aveda must be. I had tried many other well known brands, but nothing compared to Aveda.

I can say I was no longer embarrassed to walk around because of my hair being severely damaged.

This was the first great experience I had with Aveda before I even knew I wanted to attend the Cinta Aveda Institute.
